Directions:
- Start indoors 8-10weeks before last frost date and harden off to transplant early spring or in warmer climates plant late summer or early fall
- 4" deep containers are ideal for starting seeds
- Add moisture to starter soil mix and place seeds on top of soil and lightly cover - spray gently with water bottle
- Seeds germinate best at 70-75 degrees - use a heat mat to get soil temp up
- Once seedlings sprout add a grow light 2" above seedlings (16 hours of light per day) and remove heat mat - they prefer cooler temperatures
- When there are 2-3 leaves begin fertilizing with a diluted liquid fertilizer - (use use rabbit manure compost tea) every two weeks
- Stop fertilizing about 2 weeks before transplanting
- Cut onion tops to keep seeds 3"-4" tall
- Start to harden off about 4 weeks before last expected frost date (start in a protected area for a few hours a day at first and increase time each day)
- Onions prefer loose, fertile, well draining soil
- Place one seedling per hole
